Hoppy New Year

Yeah, it's corny - but whatcha gonna do. Hope everyone has a great o' eight.

Heres a self portrait I did as part of a project. Yup, that's me.

Heres a page from my sketchbook I liked. That giant gun-fighter guy in the middle came out kinda shitty, but theres a few ideas in there I like.. especially the AMOEBOT drawings... Possibly a future story of some kind? Maybe kinda like 'OSMOSIS JONES', only good? We'll see...

Happy Birthday Ulises!

It's Ulises' birthday today!

Vancouver Voice

This is a cover illustration that I did for the Vancouver Voice. It's a local paper with a good design and solid writing.

The sketch that they liked was pretty close to this finished version. I lightbox/inked it with microns and tightened it up a bit in the process, not too much though. Color was done in Photoshop CS3.

You can read the cover story on their website here.

Here is the image as I sent it to them:

Here is a giant cutout that I illustrated and helped put together at work (Battle Ground Printing). It was sitting in the front window up through Halloween, now we're trying to figure out what to do with it...

Here is a cover proposal for KA-BLAM-O. This is a comic/art project organized by Edowyn Vazkez (see link in sidebar). It should be great, I've seen some of the work going into it and I'm excited. I still have my 2 page comic to complete for it...

It was a pretty good day today. I got some work lined up, so I shouldn't be so stressed about student loan payments anymore. I also saw that my website went back up, which is always a plus (thanks, Jorge!). So yeah, I'm feeling good. Maybe I'll go watch a movie and relax.

The internets sucked away my soul

I've been sending out over thirteen trillion resumes every day for the past 84 years and this is the result. I was lucky enough to capture the image of my soul disappearing with the last ounce of creative juice I had left. Maybe one day I will rediscover my soul in the 'for sale' section of Craigslist - but for now - it's GONE...

Robot Nurse

I've noticed that I'm posting a lot more on here than I ever did on my own website - which is good! It's a lot easier to do a quick post on here when I'm done with something.

Sooo, here ya go! It's some kind of robot nurse. Steam powered? ...maybe... lots of exhaust or whatever it is.. Probably works in a dirty post-apocalyptic mutant hospital... or something like that.

Also, Im considering restarting Evil Bird. Same story, just a different approach.. Maybe I'll just do page 3 with the different approach, then go back to 'fix' pages 1 and 2.

Here is page 2 of Evil Bird. Yes, it is violent, but it is a horror comic. There will be much more violence, adult language and possibly nudity/ adult situations.

Evil Bird, page 1

So I have a degree in comics, right? So I should probably put it to some use. I've been putting off comics for a while, working on graphic design and illustration stuff. But comics are awesome! So I gotta do more.

Here is page 1 of a book that I've wanted to do for a few years. I've made a lot of notes and written pages for it, but I think the best approach is to take the basic outline and just run with it. So I'm not doing thumbnails or loose pages, I'm just jumping write into the finished page. We'll see what happens, but I like page 1 for a start.

Comics are fun! And I'm trying to focus on the parts that I have the most fun with while creating this comic.

The plan is to do at least one page a week and post them over the weekend. I'm super busy with job hunting right now - but if I don't work on projects like this, then I'll never finish them.

Not much going on in page 1 - but I hope you enjoy it!

City Planning

This was a bit of an experiment with a new method. It was pretty loose and unplanned, but based on an idea of 'things in a city'- or something along those lines.

Running cook

I've been into food and cooking a lot more lately. Heres an illustration of a running chef.

Model Postcards

Here are a couple postcard designs I did recently. I liked the idea of putting a pretty face next to a pretty number sequence. The idea was a little better than the execution in my opinion, but I still like it.

New Blog

I started this blog to keep my website portfolio and my random projects and experiments separate. This will let me post works in progress and various unrelated things more easily, then if they make the cut, they'll make their way into my website portfolio: .
